Food and Nutrition Services Head Cook - 8 hrs/day (190 days/school year calendar)

Position Details

Location: McKinley Elementary

Schedule: 6:15 am - 2:15 pm, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week

Classification: Head Cook - Satellite

Start Date: ASAP

Pay Rate: $16.46/hr

Responsibilities
  • Serve breakfasts and lunches meeting federal, state, and district requirements.
  • Oversee food service activities at satellite locations; may heat convenience foods per manufacturer/district instructions.
  • Order foods and supplies.
  • Supervise food service personnel and activities.
  • Control food and supply costs through inventory management, proper storage, and portion control.
  • Maintain records as required by regulations.
  • Ensure sanitation, safety, production, service, and food quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Inspect equipment and recommend repairs or replacements.
  • Support integration of the food program into the educational environment.
  • Assist in monitoring site performance and developing improvement strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand for prolonged periods, walk frequently, work in warm environments, handle kitchen equipment, lift at least 46 pounds, and climb stairs if needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Maintain ServSafe Certification (within 6 months).
