Job summary

North Carolina Arts Council within the DNCR is seeking a Folklife Director to lead the Folklife Program and advance programs for traditional artists and communities across the state.

The role guides grants, monitors performance, and builds collaborations with arts organizations, schools, and universities. Responsibilities include program development, partnerships, and supervising a summer intern to support agency goals.

Qualifications

• Oversee Folklife Program with focus on grants and partnerships.
• Develop and implement resources for artists and organizations.
• Coordinate with statewide service organizations and state offices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee grant offerings and update guidelines with marketing team.
• Monitor grantees, review final reports, and conduct high risk site visits.
• Contract outside evaluators and assist in grant contracts collection.
• Approve revised budgets and issue rejection letters as needed.
• Develop workshops and technical assistance opportunities for artists.
