Job summary

Amcor in Peachtree City, Georgia is seeking a Folder/Gluer Machine Operator responsible for operating and adjusting the gluer machine to produce high-quality printed packaging material. The role involves troubleshooting, quality assurance, and maintaining compliance with OHSE policies.

  • Must possess basic computer skills and mathematical skills necessary to compute percentages, weights and measures.

Job description

Responsibilities

Operates Folder/Gluer Machine to develop end-result printed packaging material in accordance with customer specifications. Operates and adjusts gluer machine, troubleshoot and monitor operation. Prepares gluer by performing tasks to produce a consistent, high quality product by precise control of feeding, take over and inverting of batches of blanks, setting automatic loading and maintaining steady and precise feeding at all speeds with adjustments as needed to exceed customer expectations. Performs make-ready tasks utilizing quick and easy settings for high productivity and precision operations, resolves defects and adjustments to produce high quality product. Oversees general technicians working on equipment. Makes adjustments, clears jams, while processing product, maintaining speed and quality.


Quality

Ensure quality of jobs completed by reviewing for quality and accuracy. Ensure jobs are complete and error free. Ensure finished product exceeds customer expectations. Ensure all checklists are completed. Support and communicate all ISO standards and quality objectives to the team.


OHSE And Clean

Ensure complete adherence and compliance to the OHSE and Clean policies. Assist team members in maintaining a clean and safe environment. Maintain and follow all company policies and procedures for safety, PPE and hazard materials/waste handling. Follow PPE procedures at all times. Follow established procedures and guidelines for handling and disposal of all hazardous materials and waste. Maintain proper uniform according to company policy. Use company provided safety lifting equipment. Properly stores and arranges work area to maintain cleanliness and safe environment following all safety rules and regulations for grounding, storage, spill clean-up, etc.


Communications

Interacts with the team and co-workers in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance. Communicates accurate information to all team members in a professional and courteous manner that conveys a willingness to assist. Accepts direction and feedback from leadership and follows through appropriately.


Leadership

Create and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation. Communicates regularly with team toward goals and required results, providing specific feedback and initiating corrective action when goals or results are not met. Motivate crew to improve quantity and quality of work performed and provide training as required. Consistently uses appropriate established channels of communication. Conduct team meetings. Must be able to perform any and all work or additional tasks as required or requested by Department Leads, Shift Leads, or Management.


Requirements


  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Minimum of 3 years of Folder/Gluer equipment operation within the food packaging industry. Experience with Bobst Alpina, Expertfold and/or Heidelberg gluer preferred.

  • Interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must possess basic computer skills and mathematical skills necessary to compute percentages, weights and measures.


Physical Demands

This position requires prolonged periods of standing, stooping, bending and/or reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms, hearing and speaking. Frequent lifting in excess of 30 lbs is required. Must be able to hold, touch, feel and manipulate with hands product and equipment in a safe manner. Manual dexterity is required. Use of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus as well as good eye-hand coordination. Must be able to rotate shifts and be available to work in excess of 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week when necessary to meet customer product needs.
