Job summary

CGS Federal seeks a FOIA Analyst (Mid-Level) to support the Information Technology department in Fairfax, VA. The role involves processing FOIA requests, drafting responses, and coordinating with requesters and agencies to determine permissible disclosures.

The ideal candidate has six years of FOIA experience, knowledge of exemptions, and strong communication skills. A government clearance is preferred and may be required.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience processing FOIA requests.
• Knowledge of FOIA exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6).
• Experience redacting records with trade secrets and confidential information.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to coordinate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA folders.
• Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database.
• Draft response letters and other FOIA correspondence.
• Communicate and negotiate with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors, and contractors.
• Serve as liaison with requesters and other agencies when needed.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicates.
• Review records for responsiveness and determine release determinations.
• Ensure released materials do not reveal exempt information.
