Job summary

TechOp Solutions is seeking an experienced FOIA Analyst to process moderately complex to complex FOIA requests and support disclosure reviews, appeals, litigation matters, records redaction, correspondence preparation, and QA activities.

The role requires reviewing requests, determining record responsiveness, applying FOIA exemptions, preparing disclosures with redactions, and drafting communications with requesters. Proficiency in eDiscovery and Relativity is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least 5 years of FOIA experience.
• Expertise reviewing federal FOIA cases and applying exemptions.

Responsibilities

• Review and process varied FOIA requests (new, open, routine, complex, backlogged).

Job description

TechOp Solutions is seeking an experienced FOIA Analyst to process moderately complex to complex FOIA requests and support disclosure reviews, appeals, litigation matters, records redaction, correspondence preparation, and quality assurance activities.

Duties

• Review and process new, open, routine, complex, and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Determine whether records are responsive to assigned requests.
• Analyze records and recommend the appropriate application of FOIA and Privacy Act exemptions.
• Prepare records for release by applying redactions.
• Draft correspondence to requesters and coordinate with records custodians to clarify scope, search terms, and disclosure concerns.
• Support FOIA appeals and litigation by organizing case files, reviewing records, and preparing supporting documentation.
• Use case-management, eDiscovery, SharePoint, Box, and other approved systems.
• Record case actions, correspondence, determinations, and supporting documentation accurately in the designated tracking system.
• Prepare document indices, status reports, disclosure analyses, and case-closure documentation. Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of relevant FOIA experience.
• Demonstrated expertise reviewing and handling federal FOIA cases.
• Advanced knowledge of FOIA exemptions, the Privacy Act, disclosure analysis, appeals, and litigation support.
• Experience using eDiscovery, electronic case-management, and redaction tools; experience with Relativity is highly desirable.
• Ability to independently analyze complex or sensitive records and produce accurate, defensible recommendations.
• Exceptional analytical, writing, quality-control, and organizational skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
