Job summary

SA Hospitality Group in New York is seeking a bar support associate to assist the bartender with service steps and keep the bar stocked with beer, wine, liquor, and non-alcoholic beverages, glassware, and garnishes.

You will work in a team, clear the bar, restock pars at start/end shifts, and help maintain cleanliness and organization while delivering friendly, efficient service to guests. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in clearing the bar and keeping it free of dirty/empty items.
• Retrieve bar station supplies and restock as needed to support bartenders.
• Refill water glasses and assist in bussing as directed by management.
• Maintain bar cleanliness and organization; breakdown and cleaning at close.
• Respond to guest questions and connect with the right staff when needed.
• Stock pars for liquor, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages at shift start; replenish during shift.
• Keep glassware, silverware, and plates stocked for service.
• Assist in replenishing garnishes and maintaining bar stock throughout service.

Job description

Position Purpose: This person will assist the bartender with steps of service and work in a team environment to quickly stock/restock beer, wine, liquor, and non-alcoholic beverages; china, glassware, and silverware; paper products, garnishes, and anything else needed by the bar team to provide service.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Assist in clearing the bar counter to ensure they remain free of dirty/empty items.
• Retrieve bread/cheese/pepper/salt for bar diners so bartender can stay stationed behind the bar.
• Refill guests’ water glasses as needed.
• Assist in bussing/support duties at the bar, at the direction of management, to ensure that all guests receive excellent. service regardless of business volume
• Acknowledge all guests with eye contact and a smile, being able to answer questions when able – if not, follow through to find the appropriate employee to respond to guest request.
• Confirm and stock pars for all liquor, wine, beer, and n/a beverages at start of shift (see separate par sheet) and replenish as needed throughout the service and at end of shift.
• Keep the bar stocked with appropriate glassware, silverware, and plates to serve the guests.
• Assist bartenders in replenishing/cutting any beverage garnishes needed for cocktails.
• Clean/wipe down bar counter and refrigerators and coolers at the bar every night and as needed.
• Keep the bar organized and tidy.
• Replenish coffee and milk products for the coffee area at the bar.
• Sorts and removes trash from bar area, places in designated areas in the back of the kitchen.
• Assist in removing bar mats, espresso dump box, and drip coffee urns.
• Conduct thorough breakdown and cleaning of bar area at close of shift.
• Clean up any broken glass or spills throughout the shift.
• Ability to work efficiently, maximizing each trip to/from bar.
• Ability to anticipate the needs of the bar and prioritize accordingly.
• Ability to learn and remember details about our products and be able to use that knowledge to stock the correct items.

Minimal Essential Requirements:

• The ability to work as part of a team, work quickly and follow directions.
• Ability to communicate and understand direction in English to ensure safety in the workplace. Ability to understand, respond, and engage with co-workers, managers, and guests in English.
• Very basic food handling, preparation, and cleaning skills are welcomed.
