Job summary

Focus Factory Training is seeking an organized Structural Welding Instructor to support training at the Rhoads Focus Factory in Philadelphia, PA. The role will report to the on‑site Chief of Training and involves delivering classroom and hands‑on welding courses, ensuring safety, and advancing student performance.

Qualified candidates will have strong communication, a safety mindset and the ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years of welding trade experience.
  • Ability to participate on business travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

  • Instructing multiple welding related classroom courses including Workmanship, AWPSS and Safety Briefs.
  • Instructing multiple structural related classroom courses.
  • Directing and assessing hands‑on training with practice and tests.
  • Enforcing safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits.
  • Assessing student performance and identifying nonconformance to policies, procedures and technical documents.
  • Supporting various course content reviews and related activities.
  • Conducting assessments as needed/scheduled.
  • Managing class rosters and training OQE submittal paperwork.
  • Meeting with Focus Factory Leadership regarding student performance as needed.
  • Consistently grading tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics.
  • Communicating with other Training team members to advance work and communicate issues.
  • Supporting special training projects as required.
  • Supporting the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned.

Overview

Focus Factory Training (D973) is currently looking for an organized, self‑motivated Structural Welding Instructor to support the strategic sourcing initiatives at the Rhoads Focus Factory Philadelphia, PA. This position will report to the on‑site Chief of Training.

The Instructor will be part of a team, responsible for training supplier students in various courses related to structural welding processes and wire types, as well as additional welding related requirements. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to safety and procedural compliance, be a self‑starter and possess strong verbal & written communication skills. Candidates must also be driven by a desire to develop themselves and others, and possess the ability to multi‑task with a friendly, approachable customer‑service demeanor.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years of welding trade experience
  • Ability to participate on business travel up to 15%

Preferred:

  • Advanced educational coursework including certifications, associates or other advanced education degree
  • Instructing/teaching experience
  • Leadership experience (working leader, MDU, SS ...etc)
  • Currently qualified & proficient in 3 or more welding processes
  • Experience with non‑destructive testing, AWPSS & SRT
  • Proficiency with communication & virtual technologies
Skills
  • Strong ability to prioritize and complete multiple complex assignments
  • Strong ability to lead and direct in a classroom and workshop environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong willingness to think critically and problem solve
  • Strong commitment to teaching others and leading student classes

  • Must be able to complete and maintain NDT requirements for Welding Qualifications
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to maneuver throughout the facility and units to support all areas as required
