Job summary

Pelican Products, Inc. in Ontario, CA is seeking a Foam CAD Programmer to transform engineering designs into CNC-ready programs for foam components.

You will develop cutting strategies with CAD/CAM tools, optimize material usage, and collaborate with Engineering and Operations to deliver high‑quality products. The role requires 3+ years of CAM programming experience, proficiency with Solid Edge CAM Pro, and strong drawing interpretation, communication, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years CAM programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Solid Edge CAM Pro.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and translate designs into CNC machining programs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and break down designs into manufacturable foam components while maximizing material usage.
• Program CNC routers and waterjet machines using Solid Edge CAM Pro, selecting toolpaths and cutting strategies.
• Develop machine programs using 2D CAD/CAM software to support foam manufacturing and sub-assembly processes.
• Create detailed 3D exploded assembly views to improve accuracy and efficiency in foam cushion assembly.
• Provide machining processes and cycle-time data to support standard manufacturing routings in SAP.
• Evaluate machine capabilities, select appropriate manufacturing methods, and troubleshoot CAM programming issues to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to improve foam product manufacturability and streamline production processes.
• Develop and improve standard operating procedures and manufacturing work instructions.
• Evaluate tooling, equipment, and machining methods to improve product quality, reliability, and production efficiency.
• Test new cutting strategies to reduce machine cycle times, minimize material waste, and maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Train and support team members on CAM programming standards, procedures, and best practices.
