Job summary

Pelican Products in South Deerfield, MA, is seeking a Foam Assembler on 2nd shift to build foam inserts and cushioning for Pelican products. You will work with drawings, BOMs, and instructions, assemble foam components, and ensure quality through inspection.

The role requires 1–2 years of manufacturing experience, tape measure skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Training on equipment and safety procedures is provided.

Qualifications

• 2nd Shift 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
• 1–2 years of manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, or production experience.
• Ability to accurately use and read a tape measure.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to read and follow drawings, specifications and work instructions.
• Experience with fabrication equipment, cutting tools, or manufacturing machinery is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new equipment and processes.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow part drawings, Bills of Materials, assembly drawings and work instructions.
• Layout, assemble, and construct foam sub-components and inserts for customer requirements.
• Maximize material utilization while supporting efficient production processes.
• Operate Water Jet equipment and fabrication tools to produce foam components.
• Inspect foam components and completed assemblies for quality standards.

What You'll Do

As a Foam Assembler, you will help manufacture custom foam inserts and cushioning solutions that ensure Pelican products deliver exceptional protection and performance. This hands‑on role combines fabrication, assembly, machine operation, and quality inspection in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

• Read and follow part drawings, Bills of Materials, assembly drawings, and work instructions.
• Layout, assemble, and construct foam sub-components and inserts for both new and repeat customer requirements.
• Maximize material utilization while supporting efficient production processes.
• Operate fabrication equipment including vertical, horizontal, and profile saws, die cutting presses, glue applicators, and Water Jet equipment.
• Select materials and cut foam stock to required dimensions and tolerances.
• Access production files through the company network and operate Water Jet equipment to produce precision foam components.
• Adjust machine settings and operating parameters based on foam specifications and production requirements.
• Inspect foam components and completed assemblies to ensure quality standards are met.
• Perform gluing and lamination operations to assemble finished foam products.
• Identify and communicate equipment, material, or program issues to leadership as needed.
• Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Follow company policies, quality standards, and safety procedures.
• Actively supports and complies with Pelican’s objectives, guidelines and commitment to Safety, Environment and Quality.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

• 2nd Shift, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, Monday - Friday
• Minimum of 1-2 years of manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, or production experience.
• Ability to accurately use and read a tape measure.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to read and follow drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Experience working with fabrication equipment, cutting tools, or manufacturing machinery is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new equipment and processes.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Experience with hot melt gluing applications is preferred.
• Experience operating Water Jets, saws, die cutting equipment, or similar manufacturing equipment is a plus.
