Job summary

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is seeking a Food Service Assistant to join our Food Services team. You will perform a variety of food services for patients and support cleaning and dish room duties in a collaborative environment.

The role emphasizes working with a family-friendly team, following established guidelines and ensuring timely preparation and portioning of meals, while maintaining safety and quality standards in a fast-paced hospital kitchen.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Some kitchen experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare various foods and beverages for patients.
• Always prepare and portion foods following established guidelines, recipes, and production sheets.
• Consistently cover, label, and date foods and store them properly according to procedures.
• Follow proper food handling techniques (gloves, handwashing, hair covering, no eating on the job, etc.).
• Always prepare and set up food and supplies in sufficient quantity to cover service requirements. Restock as needed.
• Always check daily menu needs and complete advance preparation for the next day.
• Help to reduce cost by minimizing waste and over production.
• Act in a cost conscious manner by utilizing leftovers appropriately.
• Promptly report food shortages, outdated items or any products received in an unacceptable condition.
