Job summary

St. David's South Austin Medical Center is seeking a Food Service Associate II to support patient meals and cafeteria operations. You will prepare salads, desserts, and breakfast fruit bars, deliver patient trays, and maintain a sanitary kitchen and dishroom environment.

The role requires attention to safety protocols, possible use of a cash register, and flexibility to assist across dining areas as needed. High school diploma preferred and a Food Handlers Permit within 7 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient, medical staff and cafeteria lunch and dinner salads and desserts.
• Prepares and displays cafeteria salad bar items.
• Orders produce.
• Maintains vegetable and fruit rotation and storage.
• Maintains a sanitary and organized salad area working environment.
• Prepares cafeteria breakfast fruit bar.
• Collect patient dirty food carts.
• Set up the pot and pan sinks for service.
• Wash, sanitize and store pots and pans.
• Catch and store clean dishes.
• Maintain the catch side of the dishroom, and the pot and pan area in an organized, sanitary manner.
• Set up bus tubs in the Doctor's Dining Room for noon service.
• Set up and work an assigned position on tray line or cafeteria.
• Deliver and pass out patient trays.
• Prepare late trays
• Assist in stocking of the storeroom stock and for related work area.
• Keep the Doctor's Dining Room and Auditorium clear of catering dirty dishes.
• Assist in the cleaning of the kitchen, storeroom, walk-in and freezer floors.
• Assist in recycling of empty boxes and cans.
• Properly serves food on the cafeteria steamtable.
• Operates cash register according to department cash handling and accounts for cash received.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Food Service Associate II maintains the catch side of the dishroom, and the pot and pan area in an organized, sanitary manner or serves in the cafeteria or operates the cash register. Washes and stores pots and pans. Catches clean dishes and puts them away. Delivers food carts to patient floors, passes out trays and returns carts to the dishroom. Performs department janitorial duties.
