St. David's South Austin Medical Center is seeking a Food and Nutrition Associate to maintain the dishroom, load patient carts, deliver trays, and support timely patient meals in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Strong emphasis on sanitary operation, safety compliance, and teamwork within HCA Healthcare’s Patients First initiative. HS diploma and a Food Handlers Permit are required or obtained shortly after hire, with comprehensive benefits available.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The FSA I maintains the dishroom, janitor closet and patient food carts in an organized, sanitary manner. Delivers food carts to patient floors, passes out trays and returns carts to the dishroom. Tends and loads the dish machine. Performs department janitorial duties.

Principal Responsibilities

• Collect patient dirty food carts.
• Break down patient food carts.
• Monitor and record the dishmachine wash and rinse temperature. Take appropriate action as needed.
• Tend and load the dishmachine with patient, cafeteria and catering dirty dishes. Assist in storage of clean dishes.
• Maintain the dishroom, janitor closet and patient food carts in an organized, sanitary manner.
• Work an assigned position on trayline.
• Deliver and pass out patient trays.
• Deposit garbage into trash compactor
• Assist in the cleaning of the kitchen, storeroom, walk-in and freezer floors.
• Assist in recycling of empty boxes and cans.
• Perform special cleaning assignments.
• Demonstrate understanding of HCA’s and “Patients First” safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Food Handlers Permit required within 7 days of hire
