Job Title: FMS Systems Engineer

Job Summary
The NGFMS Systems Engineer will support the development, integration, investigation, and certification of Next Generation Flight Management Systems (NGFMS) for commercial aircraft. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of Flight Management Systems experience, hands‑on work in integrated avionics lab environments, and strong familiarity with civil aviation standards and regulations. The engineer will play a key role in system issue investigation, validation of fixes, and ensuring compliance with commercial certification requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support requirements definition, analysis, and validation for Flight Management Systems, with NGFMS experience preferred.
- Contribute to development and enhancement of:
- Lateral and vertical flight planning
- Performance Based Navigation (RNAV, RNP)
- Trajectory management and optimization functions
- Analyze FMS behavior, system interactions, and operational impacts of design changes.
- Work extensively in integrated avionics lab environments (SIL, HIL, Iron Bird, or equivalent).
- Investigate and troubleshoot system level issues involving FMS, navigation sensors, autothrottle systems, and cockpit displays.
- Perform root cause analysis, defect reproduction, and verification of corrective fixes.
- Support integration, regression, and qualification testing.
- Develop and manage system requirements with traceability to aircraft‑level and regulatory requirements.
- Support verification and validation activities in lab, simulator, and aircraft environments.
- Ensure compliance with approved development, verification, and configuration management processes.
Standards, Safety & Certification
- Apply knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements to system development and testing.
- Support safety and certification activities in accordance with:
- ARP4754A/B and ARP4761
- DO 178C (software considerations)
- DO 229, DO 260, DO 200 series (as applicable)
- FAA and EASA navigation and operational guidance
- Support certification reviews, audits, and issue resolution.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with software, hardware, safety, flight test, and human factors teams.
- Support technical reviews, issue resolution boards, and certification activities.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Flight Management Systems in a commercial aviation environment.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical documentation skills.
- Proven experience working in integrated avionics lab environments for issue investigation and testing.
- Familiarity with civil aviation standards, regulations, and certification processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on FAR/CS 25 (Part 25) transport aircraft programs.
- Participation in FAA and/or EASA certification programs.
- Exposure to airline operational use cases and flight simulator environments.
- Experience with scripting or analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB to support testing and investigations.
