Job summary

Job Description

Follow all health, safely, and environmental requirements ; Perform cleanup duties ; Perform material handling and storage duties ; Identify, use, and care of common hand and power tools ; Use and care of craft specific tools and equipment ; Knowledge and application of craft related mathematics ; Knowledge and use of safety standards and best safety practices relevant to rigging, Inspection of rigging equipment and hardware ; Knowledge and application of common hitches, Emergency stop signal, Basic crane hand signals, Knot tying (bowline & clove hitch), and use of rigging equipment relevant to craft specific tasks ; Understands the various types and function of gears, the components and characteristics of gearbox setups, problems with gears and gear boxes, and gearbox overhaul, including checks and measurements of end play, backlash, tooth contact, and shaft run out ; Understands the operation, components, routine maintenance, and overhaul of centrifugal and reciprocating compressors ; Understands the types and functions, installation, lubrication, maintenance, causes of failure, and replacement of sliding surface and roller contact bearings ; Understands the parts, function, maintenance, and troubleshooting of typical motor operators, including how gears work and the parts, operation, replacement and adjustment of rotary drum limit switches and torque switches ; Understands the types, basic operation, troubleshooting, and overhaul of reciprocating and rotary positive displacement pumps and single and multistage centrifugal pumps ; Understands pipe sizing and materials of construction, pipe storage and handling, characteristics of pipe joints and fittings, and how to measure pipe length, cut, and thread pipe ; Inspects gears and gear units for lubrication problems and bearing failure ; Installs and removes gears ; Checks and adjusts end play, backlash, shaft run out, and tooth contact in gearboxes ; Disassembles, checks, and reassembles centrifugal and reciprocating compressors ; Removes, cleans, inspects, lubricates, and installs various types of bearings ; Disassembles, inspects, and reassembles positive displacement and centrifugal pumps ; Maintains and troubleshoots problems on motor driven valve operators ; Performs complex diagnostics, repairs, calibrations, modifications and routine service on a wide variety of facilities and building equipment, systems, structures and hardware, including air handlers, domestic water, chilled water, hot water, steam, humidification, building exhaust, compressed air, controls, lighting, electrical, security systems, fire systems, etc. ; Completes preventive maintenance (PMs) and client and proactive work orders. ; Implements standard trade practices and procedures (using appropriate safety precautions) for routine maintenance. Produces workmanship commensurate with journeyman level in the following trades: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, welding or electronics. ; Provides technical assistance to junior staff. ; Performs general housekeeping duties in the work areas and shop. ; Complies with all Fluor Corporation safety requirements and programs.

Job Description Summary

Fluor Corporation is seeking a licensed HVAC Tech for a full-time position in support of day-to-day office operations, maintenance & amp; cap projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Determines by regular inspections, the need for repairs and maintenance work related to heating, ventilation, refrigeration and conditioning equipment.
• Recommend equipment for shutdowns to complete major overhauls.
• Plans sequence of operation and methods to be used when making repairs, replacements and/or mechanical alterations to comply with manufacturer's recommendations.
• Maintains and calibrates systems and equipment after installation and overhaul; charges and removes system's refrigerant according to Environmental Protection Agency rules and regulations.
• Operates energy management computer-controlled systems and electronic controls.
• Work effectively in a team environment with the ability to work independently with little or no supervision and have responsibility for planning and scheduling of work. Performs skilled work in each of the skilled maintenance fields but specializes in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning).
• Maintain, repair, and replace air conditioning equipment, that includes Chillers, Boilers, Electric Pumps, Refrigeration, Large AHUs, and Package Units. Responsible for calibration of equipment, gauges, and controls, handling of refrigerant, and refrigerant charging of systems.
• Maintain, repair, and replace air-moving, heating, cooling, humidification, and filtering equipment. Maintain computer room cooling units, electronic modulating thermostats, humidistats, duct-stats, and pressure and volume controls.
• Maintain, repair, and replace equipment related to heating and cooling, such as compressors, 3 phase motors, and associated controls.
• Fabricate tubing or duct work modifications, which may involve soldering, brazing, welding, etc.
• Operate energy management or building automation systems that control heating and cooling systems.
• Perform minor installation or modification work on heating and cooling systems and controls, including planning the work; estimating and arranging the materials; supplies, and equipment required; and coordinating with other trades.
• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance including filter changes when scheduled or needed. Lubricate fans, motors, pumps, dampers, and operating hardware. Replace belts on fans. Repair and/or replace insulation.
• Clean bearings, fan housings, squirrel cages or other impellers.
• Provide emergency, on-call support of HVAC equipment that affects site operations.

Education & Experience

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent required
• 2-year associate's degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration preferred
• 4+ years in HVAC preferred
• EPA Refrigerant Practices Universal Certification required
• Must possess a valid SC driver's license
