Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Fluids to design, analyze, test, and deploy complex fluid systems in high-performance environments. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical aptitude and fluid mechanics knowledge, ownership from concept to deployment, and collaboration with manufacturing and operations.
Based in Cocoa, FL, the position is fully onsite as a contract role with competitive hourly pay and a comprehensive benefits package.
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer - Fluids to support the design, analysis, development, testing, and deployment of complex fluid systems used in demanding industrial and aerospace environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring a strong blend of mechanical design expertise, fluid systems knowledge, and practical engineering intuition. The ideal candidate is someone who understands how mechanical systems behave in the real world, can develop innovative design solutions, and is comfortable taking ownership of projects from concept through implementation.
Candidates must possess a deep understanding of fluid mechanics and demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude. Individuals whose experience is primarily theoretical without significant design application will not be successful in this role.
Design, develop, and improve fluid and mechanical systems used in high-performance operational environments.
Own projects from concept through deployment, including design reviews, calculations, vendor coordination, procurement, fabrication support, testing, and commissioning.
Perform fluid flow, pressure drop, thermal, and system-level analyses to validate designs.
Create detailed engineering models, drawings, schematics, and fabrication packages.
Select and size valves, regulators, pumps, piping, instrumentation, and mechanical components.
Support installation, startup, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations of fluid and mechanical systems.
Work closely with manufacturing, technicians, and operations personnel to ensure successful execution of designs.
Develop design solutions that balance performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule, and cost.
Perform engineering calculations and verify design adequacy using first-principles analysis, hand calculations, FEA, CFD, or other engineering methods as applicable.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to increase system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
This role is best suited for a true mechanical engineer who enjoys designing hardware, solving complex fluid system challenges, and seeing their designs used in the real world. Successful candidates combine strong analytical skills with hands-on problem solving, possess excellent engineering judgment, and have a natural intuition for how mechanical and fluid systems interact.
These are considered core requirements and are not interchangeable with general project engineering or operations experience.
This is a Contract position based out of Cocoa, FL.
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $41.00/hr.
