Job summary

AJ's Fine Foods in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking a Floral Designer to design and arrange live, dried or artificial flowers, gift baskets and foliage in the floral department. You will maintain the department standards and assist customers with selections.

The role requires a positive, customer-service oriented approach, ability to work in a fast-paced store, and willingness to learn. Candidates should be at least 18 and able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Friendly and customer service oriented. Interest in food and cooking a plus.
• Customer service, restaurant, barista, food service, grocery or similar experience desired
• Self-motivated, with a high attention to detail, quality and presentation
• Skills to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers

• Ability to read, understand and follow through on verbal and written directions

Responsibilities

• Maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members.
• Trimming material and arranging bouquets, wreaths and other items using trimmers, shapers, wire, pins, floral tape, foam and other materials.
• Pricing and displaying floral products in sales cases.
• Actively selling merchandise.
• Informing customers about the care, maintenance and handling of various flowers, foliage, indoor plants and other items.
• Advising customers of appropriate merchandise selections, conferring with customers regarding type of arrangement or plant desired.
• Receiving customer orders.
• Filling customer orders correctly and filing the names of customers and their preferences to facilitate future sales transactions.
• Conferring with customers regarding price and type of arrangement desired and the date, time and place of delivery.
• Planning arrangements according to client#39;s requirements, utilizing knowledge of design and properties of materials, and selecting appropriate standard design patterns.
• Following approved procedures for receiving, code dating, storing, price marking and restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy and product rotation.
• Assisting in checking and verifying produce department#39;s products.
• Taking received and prepared products to refrigerated storage, shelf and display areas.
• All other related duties as assigned
• The Floral Designer responsibilities will primarily be in the produce department but may also work in other departments as needed.

Position Purpose

We are looking for a Floral Designer who is positive and passionate! Our Floral Designer will be responsible for executing a wide variety of tasks throughout the store. The Floral Designer is a floral products expert who maintains and operates the produce floral department including designing, cutting and arranging live, dried or artificial flowers, gift baskets and foliage according to department standards. A Floral Designer is a responsible team player and always ready to learn. A Floral Designer can work at a fast pace, has a keen eye for safety and will be able to help execute an assortment of duties throughout the store.
