Job Title: Floral Clerk

General Function

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Creates basic floral arrangements and fills merchandising needs. Assists customers with orders and completes paperwork. Handles deliveries and makes delivery lists.

Reporting Relations

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Floral Department Manager

Positions reporting to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions.
• Greets customers warmly and by name when possible.
• Assists customers by guiding them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading heavy items, passing along suggestions, and enhancing the shopping experience.
• Answers phones promptly and courteously.
• Assists with floral orders, including paperwork and processing.
• Works with team members to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive environment.
• Prepares, finishes, and replenishes floral products such as arrangements, corsages, boutonnieres, roses, carnations, balloons, and bows.
• Waters plants, prepares delivery lists, and manages floral orders via FTD, Teleflora, and computer systems.
• Ensures floral products are fresh and replenished as needed.
• Unloads trucks, stocks merchandise, checks invoices, and maintains a clean work area.
• Handles register transactions as needed.
• Follows personal hygiene and dress guidelines, reports to work on time.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Orders supplies, prices products, delivers orders, and assists in other store areas as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Arithmetic skills involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to file, post, mail, and guide people.

Education and Experience

Less than high school or up to six months related experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently; 10 pounds constantly.
• Visual acuity from less than 20 inches to over 20 feet, with or without correction.
• Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Work is conducted in a store environment with deadlines and multiple priorities. Exposure to dirt, noise, hazards, chemicals, electrical shocks, and dampness.

Equipment Used

Tools include computer, underwater cutter, wire cutter, pricing gun, dosetron, scissors, knives, pick machine, register, helium tank, and telephone.

Daily contact with the public and customers; weekly with vendors.

Maintains confidentiality of orders and related information.
