Job Title: Floral Clerk

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Creates basic floral arrangements and fulfills merchandising needs. Assists customers with orders and completes paperwork. Manages deliveries and delivery lists.

Reporting Relations

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Floral Department Manager

Positions reporting to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides friendly customer service, showing care, concern, and patience in all interactions.
• Greets customers warmly and attempts to learn and use their names.
• Assists customers by guiding them, securing products, loading heavy items, and passing along suggestions or requests.
• Answers calls promptly and courteously, assisting with orders over the phone or in person.
• Prepares and replenishes floral products, including arrangements, corsages, balloons, and bows.
• Waters plants, prepares delivery lists, and manages floral orders and product freshness.
• Unloads trucks, stocks merchandise, and maintains a clean work environment.
• Operates registers and handles payments.
• Follows dress code and personal hygiene standards, and reports to work on time.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Orders supplies, prices products, delivers orders, and assists in other store areas as needed.
• Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Basic arithmetic skills involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to file, post, mail, and guide people.

Education and Experience

Less than high school or up to six months of related experience.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
• Visual acuity from less than 20 inches to over 20 feet, with or without correction.
• Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Work is conducted in a store environment with deadlines and multiple priorities, exposure to dirt, noise, hazards, chemicals, and dampness.

Equipment Used

Standard floral tools, computer, register system, helium tank, and other floral equipment.

Contacts

Daily contact with customers and the public; weekly contact with vendors.

Confidentiality

Maintains confidentiality of orders and related information.
