Job summary

The Build Partners, LLC is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support coordination and management of commercial flooring projects in Kansas City. You will work with Project Managers, Estimators, field personnel, vendors, and accounting through bid to closeout.

The role emphasizes understanding both construction and financial aspects, including budgeting, job costing, and procurement. Ideal candidates will be organized, detail-oriented, and eager to grow into leadership roles in construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Previous construction, project coordination, estimating, accounting, or related experience preferred.
• Commercial flooring experience a plus but not required for the right candidate.
• Basic understanding of construction estimating and job costing.
• Comfortable with budgets, numbers, spreadsheets, and financial information.
• Able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, or willing to learn.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities

• For project management & coordination, assist with day-to-day coordination of commercial flooring projects.
• Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work.
• Track project schedules, milestones, material requirements, and installation dates.
• Coordinate with general contractors, vendors, manufacturers, installers, and internal team members.
• Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation.
• Maintain organized and accurate project files; assist startup, progress tracking, and closeout.
• Communicate project changes, schedule concerns, and potential issues to the Project Manager.
• Help ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
• Assist Estimators with takeoffs, quantity verification, pricing, and bid preparation.
• Review drawings to identify flooring types, quantities, and scope requirements.
• Request and organize vendor pricing; assist with bid documentation.
