As a Floor Technician at Yorktown Naval Weapons Station/Cheatham Annex, you will be responsible for maintaining and ensuring the cleanliness and appearance of various facilities within the station. This includes the use of specialized equipment, proper cleaning techniques, and adherence to safety protocols. The goal is to provide a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for base personnel and visitors.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform routine cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming, to maintain cleanliness and presentation of assigned areas.
  2. Utilize appropriate cleaning agents, equipment, and techniques to achieve high standards of sanitation, removing dirt, stains, and other substances effectively.
  3. Inspect flooring surfaces, identifying areas that require repair, replacement, or specific attention, and report such issues to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance staff.
  4. Ensuring the completion of custodial duties during the assigned shift through manual performance. These tasks include, but are not limited to, high/low dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, wet or dry mopping, operating a large floor scrubber, buffing, stripping and reapplying a smooth, glossy finish.
  5. Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas for cleaning supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained and necessary items are readily available.
  6. Understand and follow safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to equipment or property.
  7. Operate and maintain floor cleaning equipment, including but not limited to industrial vacuums, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, and polishing machines.
  8. Respond to emergency cleaning situations promptly and efficiently, including spills, accidents, and other incidents that may require immediate attention.
  9. Follow established standards, rules, and regulations set by the naval station or supervisory personnel.
  10. Maintain a professional demeanor, interacting courteously and professionally with base personnel, visitors, and other contractors.

Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
2. Proven experience as a Floor Technician or in a similar role is preferred.
3. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, products, and safety procedures.
4. Ability to operate and maintain various floor cleaning equipment.
5. Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify areas that require specific attention or repair.
6. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to complete tasks efficiently and within designated timeframes.
7. Physical stamina and strength to perform cleaning tasks by being able to lift 50 lbs. independently.
8. Basic knowledge of health and safety standards.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
10. Ability to pass a background check in compliance with Naval Weapon Station guidelines.

Working Conditions:
The Floor Technician will primarily work indoors, often in public areas within the Naval Weapons Station. This role may require occasional work in outdoor areas as well. The position may involve exposure to various cleaning agents, chemicals, and situations requiring adherence to safety protocols.
