Job description

Job Summary

Floor Technician is responsible for floor maintenance, restoration, and the operation of industrial floor care equipment.

Essential Functions

• Maintain knowledge of principles of hard‑surface floor maintenance and use proper procedures on hard floor care including stripping, refinishing, burnishing, spray cleaning, and spray buffing.
• Operate various types of industrial floor care equipment.
• Utilize automated equipment for cleaning large areas of floor surface.
• Use proper procedures on carpet and upholstery including shampooing, damp cleaning, extraction, spot cleaning, vacuuming, etc.
• Perform maintenance and restorative processes for all floor surface types.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a floor care technician or in a related role preferred.
• Proven knowledge of floor care equipment and techniques.
• Knowledge of and ability to follow safety procedures.
• Requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 lbs.

Compensation and Work Schedule

Fixed pay rate: $14.75 per hour.

Schedule: Full‑time and part‑time shifts; day shift; days and hours may vary. Flexible schedules available to meet most needs.

Location

Ferrum College – 215 Ferrum Mountain Road, Johns, Ferrum, VA 24088. Openings at other locations within the school district are available.
