Job summary

Chimes is seeking a Floor Technician to maintain floor surfaces and custodial standards at our Washington, DC location. The role involves stripping, sealing, waxing, buffing floors, carpet care, and operating floor machinery.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:00 pm–11:00 pm, with a pay rate of $21.16 per hour. Candidates should have a high school diploma and be able to lift up to 50 lbs (75–100 lbs with assistance) and work independently. This position emphasizes safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Six months of floor technician or custodial experience preferred.
• Knowledge of floor care equipment and maintenance techniques is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly (75-100 lbs. with assistance).
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work independently.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Strip, seal, wax, buff, and burnish hard floors.
• Clean carpets using extractors and spot-cleaning equipment.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain assigned areas.
• Operate floor care equipment, including scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, extractors, and ride-on machines.
• Mix and use cleaning chemicals safely and properly.
• Move furniture as needed to complete floor care.
• Perform equipment inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance.
• Remove trash when required.
• Report maintenance issues, equipment needs, and safety concerns.
• Assist with inventory and general custodial duties as needed
• Follow all company, safety, and security policies.
