Job summary

Boulder City Hospital, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Services Aide to clean and maintain all floors and surfaces, perform preventative tasks, and participate in quality improvement activities.

The role requires physical stamina and ability to lift up to 100 pounds, with day, evening or night shifts as needed. You will follow infection control practices, use appropriate cleaning chemicals, and ensure patient confidentiality while delivering professional service to patients, families and staff

Responsibilities

• Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner reflecting the Environmental Services Department's integrity.
• Cleans and maintains floors, carpets, tile, concrete or brick flooring.
• Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
• Uses appropriate chemicals and supplies per procedure and manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Performs restoration on highly soiled or worn areas.
• Observes safety precautions and uses signage to prevent hazards.
• Follows infection control practices including hand-washing and isolation precautions.
• Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
• Works day, evening or night shift as assigned.
• Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Cleans and maintains all carpeted and hard surfaces in the facility, performs preventative maintenance on special floor equipment, and participates in the department's continuous quality improvement activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of all floors, carpets, tile, concrete or brick flooring.
• Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
• Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies and cleaning techniques according to procedure and manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Performs restoration functions on highly soiled or worn areas.
• Observes safety precautions at all times. Uses safety signs, WET FLOOR and ropes off sections of floor for cleaning where appropriate.
• Uses, cleans and maintains all equipment correctly and safely.
• Follows all infection control practices including hand-washing techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions.
• Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
• Replenishes supplies; notifies the supervisor two weeks in advance when supplies need to be ordered.
• Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors.
• Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
• Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
• Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
• Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean with a fresh uniform each day.
• Completes annual education requirements.
• Maintains regulatory requirements.
• Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
• Works day, evening or night shift as assigned.
• Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
• Wears identification while on duty.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school graduate or equivalency preferred.
• Previous experience with institutional cleaning desirable.
