Job summary

PCSI is seeking a Floor Technician at Pensacola NAS to maintain hard surface floors by buffing, stripping, and refinishing, and to clean baseboards and doors. The role includes vacuuming and shampooing carpets and performing finishing techniques to protect floors.

The position reports to the Housekeeping Executive Assistant Housekeeper at Pensacola NAS in Pensacola and Milton, with typical hours Monday-Friday. Abilities include clearance checks and ability to pass screenings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum one year of housekeeping or other cleaning experience.
• Minimum one year of public sector (school, hospital, clinic, etc.) related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties per standard cleaning procedures of AHA and JCO.
• Mix water and chemicals per MSDS for daily cleaning.
• Maintain hard surface floors by buffing, stripping and refinishing; clean baseboards, corners and doors.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpets to remove dirt and stains.
• Handle cleaning on surfaces such as vinyl, ceramic tile, carpet, brick, wood and concrete; clean vent covers.
• Maintain floor care equipment and supplies; perform minor repairs.

PCSI is looking for a Floor Technician at Pensacola NAS! Maintain hard surface floors by buffing, stripping, and refinishing floors. Clean baseboards, corners, and doors. Perform finishing techniques to protect floors. Vacuum and shampoo carpets to remove dirt and stains. This position will report to the Housekeeping Executive Assistant Housekeeper and is based at Pensacola NAS in Pensacola and Milton. Typical work hours will be Monday-Friday.

What You'll Do As Floor Technician

• Perform all duties assigned in accordance with standard cleaning procedures of the American Hospital Association and the Joint Commission of Healthcare Organizations.
• Mix water and chemicals to create solutions used for daily cleaning according to Material Safety Data Sheets.
• Maintain hard surface floors by buffing, stripping, and refinishing floors. Clean baseboards, corners, and doors. Perform finishing techniques to protect floors.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpets to remove dirt and stains.
• Perform special cleaning assignments; determine appropriate cleaning chemical used to clean various surfaces such as vinyl; painted surfaces; ceramic tile; carpet; metal, brick, wood, and cork surfaces, concrete wall surfaces. Clean vent covers.
• Maintain floor care equipment to include minor repairs and adequate chemical supplies needed to complete tasks.

What You'll Need

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum one (1) year of housekeeping or other cleaning experience required, or equivalent combination of training or experience.
• Minimum one year of public sector (school, hospital, clinic, etc.) related experience preferred).

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge of stripping, polishing, and shampooing equipment such as electrical buffing, scrubbing, and extractor machines, electric dry foam shampoo machine, vacuum, battery operated and self-propelled floor scrubber and carpet shampoo machines.
• Ability to use general cleaning equipment as outlined in procedures to ensure proper usage and safety.
• Demonstrated ability to read and understand service requests, container labels, product information, and “Material Safety Data Sheets” (MSDS) on cleaning solutions.
• Ability to follow directions, work rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to work as a team member and interact harmoniously with coworkers, hospital staff, and visitors.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Other Requirements

• Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
• Ability to be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors. Subject to hazards associated with working in a health care environment that may cause personal harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels.
• Ability to tour facility approximately 90% of the time during working hours.
• Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
• Possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.
• If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).
