Virginia Department of Veterans Services in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Floor Tech I to keep the Davis & McDaniel Vet Care Ctr safe, clean, and welcoming. The role emphasizes high-quality floor care, routine cleaning, and maintaining a well-stocked, orderly environment.

As part of the facilities team, you will perform floor stripping, refinishing, carpet cleaning, daily sanitation, and biohazard cleanup while reporting maintenance needs and supporting emergency operations as needed.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge in the use of cleaning devices such as brooms, mops, buffers, and other cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Advanced Floor & Fabric Care: Strip, refinish, burnish, and buff floors; shampoo carpets and upholstery.
• Routine Sanitation: Perform daily cleaning including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and waste removal.
• Stocking & Biohazard Cleanup: Replenish essential supplies (soap, paper products) and safely clean up bodily fluids/waste.
• Detail Cleaning: Wash walls, glass, and ceiling vents; utilize 6-foot ladders and basic hand tools to change window drapes and curtains.
• Equipment & Reporting: Clean and store equipment properly after use, report maintenance issues to supervisors, and track your completed tasks to ensure productivity standards are met.
• Team & Emergency Support: Complete other mission-related duties as assigned, including potential emergency assistance for state or agency needs if declared by the Governor.
