Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This individual will perform day-to-day activities of the housekeeping and maintenance department in accordance with current Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and/or supervisor. Responsible for total floor care and facility maintenance to ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• One year’s work experience in a commercial establishment with knowledge of laundry/housekeeping procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow work assignments from supervisor and schedule to wash, seal, wax, and buff all floors in the facility.
• Perform maintenance tasks such as checking and replacing light bulbs, cleaning lint from dryers, vents, and registers in resident rooms and other areas; keep grounds cleared of debris; sweep front entrance and patio areas; clean ash trays; ensure outside furniture is clean and usable; hose out garbage cans; wash windows and screens outside the building; assist with lubricating equipment such as potty-chairs, wheelchairs, shower chairs, and drug carts.
• Perform general housekeeping duties in various areas to maintain a sanitary, safe, attractive, and orderly environment.
• Follow cleaning schedules to clean offices, restrooms, activity rooms, kitchens, service entrances, therapy rooms, entrances/exits, utility areas, closets, lounges, lobbies, halls, etc.; perform emergency housekeeping as needed.
• Clean, dust, wash, and disinfect fixtures, floors, walls, doors, and ceilings as required.
• Clean furnishings and horizontal surfaces to remove dust and dirt.
• Clean floors through sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, disinfecting, etc.; ensure safety signs are set up prior to cleaning activities.
