Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services professional to perform floor cleaning and refinishing in patient-care areas, following department standards and hospital objectives. You will support safe patient care and a safe environment in line with regulatory requirements.

No formal education required; 2 years of experience with chemicals, stripping, refinishing, and carpet shampooing; ability to read MSDS and basic English; responsible for daily floor care,

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment assessment and drug screening.
• Annual screening may be required.
• Ability to read and understand some English.
• Knows how to read a material safety data sheet.
• Knows correct methods for cleaning up chemical spills and reacting to chemical exposure.

Responsibilities

• Performs floor care functions in assigned areas following schedules and using prescribed methods.
• Strips and waxes floors.
• Maintains floors by spray buffing, burnishing, or top-coating.
• Shampoos carpets and removes spots and stains.
• Follows safety procedures with barriers and signage.
• Complies with procedures for handling, mixing, labeling, and disposal of all chemicals.
• Maintains cleanliness of equipment and reports needed repairs.
• Maintains cleanliness of areas including trash removal, linen bags, meeting room setup, and delivering beds to patient units.

Job Description

Performs major floor cleaning and refinishing functions in accordance with the standards set by the Environmental Services department and hospital objectives in support of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s mission, vision, and values. Performs all assigned duties and tasks in an effective, efficient manner and in compliance with all appropriate regulatory agency requirements that govern the operations of the department. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience

2 years of experience in the proper use of chemicals and equipment in stripping, refinishing, and maintaining floors and shampooing carpeting or completion of an externship program approved by Children's
