Job summary

Appomattox Health & Rehabilitation Center in Appomattox, VA is seeking a dedicated housekeeping associate to maintain a clean, sanitary environment and reduce infection risk across patient and staff areas.

You will perform floor stripping, scrubbing, refinishing, and buffing; vacuum carpets; assist with cleaning walls, furniture, windows, and other heavy chores; handle waste and maintain a safe working environment. Weekend/evening shifts and other duties as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

Maintains a clean, sanitary environment, minimizing any infection risk. Promotes and enhances the safety of patients, families, and staff. Maintains standards of operational practice. Maintains a professional appearance. Specialist in floor care maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strips, scrubs, sweeps, refinishes, and buffs all tiled floor areas of the center, utilizing the proper equipment and procedures.

• Vacuums and spot cleans all carpet throughout the center.

• Performs cyclical cleaning according to project schedule.

• Works on weekends and evenings as specified to do special projects such as complete floor treatment and carpet cleaning.

• Assists in the general cleaning of patient’s rooms and common areas.

• Assists in washing walls, furniture, ceilings, and other heavy duty cleaning chores.

• Assists in the moving and rearranging of furniture.

• Hangs cubical curtains and draperies after washing and as needed in patient rooms and other areas.

• Cleans all interior and exterior windows in the building.

• Removes and properly disposes of all trash as needed.

• Maintains clean and safe working environment for all equipment.

• Enters work orders in the preventative maintenance program : TELS

• Cross trains as a housekeeping associate.

• Reports all instances of abuse or neglect or other concerns to management.

• Attends and participates in orientation, training and in-service education, and staff meetings. Ensures all mandatory training is completed on time.

• Performs other duties as necessary for the successful operation of the center.
