Job summary

Northshore YMCA is seeking a Floating Teacher to support multiple classrooms with developmentally appropriate activities. You will help maintain a warm, safe environment and assist with daily organization, ensuring spaces are ready for discovery.

The role emphasizes positive communication with families, adherence to policies, and ongoing training. You will be part of a mission-driven team promoting youth development and community impact.

Qualifications

• Understanding of child development and ability to apply this knowledge in daily activities.
• Review and follow center policies, including Health Care Policy, Parent Handbook, and Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Policy.
• Maintain current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Complete trainings and orientation as outlined by MA EEC and YMCA North Shore Training Plan.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom teachers, lead teachers, and directors in creating fun, developmentally appropriate activities.
• Help maintain a warm, safe, and welcoming environment for every child to learn and thrive.
• Assist with daily classroom organization and cleanliness, and ensure materials are put away.
• Communicate positively with parents and caregivers while respecting confidentiality and YMCA values.
• Keep records accurate and up-to-date, including attendance, meal counts, and incident reports.
