Job summary

Magical Beginnings is seeking an EEC Certified Floating Teacher to support multiple classrooms across our South Hamilton, MA location starting this fall. The role requires adaptability across infant to preschool ages and a strong commitment to consistent, high-quality child care.

The ideal candidate will have EEC Preschool certification or CDA, or an equivalent degree with experience in daycare settings, plus an engaging, energetic demeanor and a passion for early childhood development.

Qualifications

  • EEC Preschool teaching certification (or CDA) or equivalent degree/experience is required.
  • Daycare experience in a center-based or private school setting preferred.
  • Engaging, energetic demeanor and love for helping young children develop.

Responsibilities

  • Provide substitute coverage across classrooms when teachers are out or on planning time.
  • Support infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms as needed to maintain quality of care.
  • Follow each classroom’s routines, lesson plans, and schedules for continuity.

We’re seeking an EEC Certified Floating Teacher to join our passionate team at our South Hamilton school, starting this fall. If you’re an experienced floater, infant teacher, toddler teacher, preschool teacher, or early childhood educator who is comfortable adapting across age groups from infants through preschool , we’d love to meet you. This vital role supports multiple classrooms, offering flexibility and variety while ensuring consistency in high-quality child care. Whether you’re soothing a toddler, inspiring preschoolers, or supporting fellow daycare teachers, you’ll be an essential part of our nurturing and collaborative community.

You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
  • EEC Teacher Certification (Preschool), CDA, or equivalent degree and experience (required)
  • Daycare experience in a center-based or private school setting
  • An engaging and energetic demeanor and a love for helping young children meet and exceed their developmental goals
Some requirements of the role include:
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday with flexibility to work until 5:30 pm
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time on the floor with the children
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to stand up to 90% of the workday
  • Attentiveness, strong time management, and a team-focused mindset
As a Floating Toddler Teacher, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing substitute coverage across classrooms when teachers are out sick, on planning time, or need a break throughout the day
  • Stepping in to support infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms as needed, maintaining consistent quality of care
  • Following each classroom’s existing routines, lesson plans, and schedules to provide continuity for children and lead teachers
  • Assisting with daily routines, including meals or bottles, diapering, outdoor time, and naptime, as appropriate to each age group
  • Helping maintain cleanliness throughout the school, including classrooms, common areas, and shared spaces
  • Keeping parents informed and building positive relationships with children and families across classrooms
  • Maintaining your EEC-required professional development hours and PQ registry
  • Helping children build independence, language, and confidence, appropriate to their age and developmental stage

$17 - $24 an hour
