Job summary

Magical Beginnings Learning Centers in Plymouth, MA, is seeking a Schoolwide Support Teacher to join our early education team. As a Floating Teacher, you will provide substitute coverage, assist with opening/closing routines, and help teachers deliver engaging lessons across infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

The role requires a caring, energetic educator with EEC certification or CDA, a willingness to be on the floor with children, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• EEC Certification or CDA or equivalent degree/experience.
• Daycare experience in center-based or private school setting.
• Engaging and energetic demeanor with a love for helping young children meet developmental goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide substitute coverage when teachers are out or on planning time.
• Assist with opening/closing routines and classroom preparation for the next morning.
• Provide day-to-day classroom support: prep materials, engage children, supervise activities, and assist with meals and nap times.
• Adhere to the daily classroom schedule and maintain clean, organized learning spaces.
• Support cleanliness of the school, including common areas and classrooms.
• Encourage children’s participation with age-appropriate activities and maintain positive relationships with students and parents.

Some requirements of the role include:

• Availability to work a full time, flexible schedule within operating hours of the school
• Ability to spend extended periods of time on the floor with the children
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to stand up to 90% of the workday
• Attentiveness, strong time management, and a team-focused mindset

As a Floating Teacher, you will be responsible for:

• Providing substitute coverage when Teachers are either out sick, completing planning time, in need of a bathroom break, lunch break, or any other coverage throughout the day.
• Assisting Classroom Teachers with the routine opening/closing of the classroom, including but not limited to wiping down the toys, cleaning the tables, vacuuming the room, sanitizing the room (after all children have left), and overall preparation of the classroom for the next morning.
• Providing classroom assistance to support teachers as needed throughout the day, including but not limited to preparing materials for classroom lesson plans, engaging with students in free play, assisting with daily projects, supervising/zoning during outdoor time, helping with bathroom needs and diapering, snack and lunch time assistance (heating up lunches, cutting up food, helping open containers, supervision), naptime assistance, etc.
• Adhering to the daily classroom schedule while assisting teachers.
• Maintaining cleanliness of the school throughout the day including, but not limited to, cleaning staff kitchen areas, lobbies, staff and classroom bathrooms, using the zono-machine (if applicable to your school), emptying trash and disposing in dumpster, assist with laundry and organizing/putting away nap mats.
• Encouraging children's participation by providing age-appropriate interactive activities.
• Maintaining EEC required professional development hours and PQ registry.
• Attending monthly staff meetings.
• Creating a fun and safe learning environment.
• Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students and parents.
