Job summary

The organization is seeking a Phlebotomist to support blood collection across multiple sites in the Albany area. The role is a contract position with potential for permanent placement, and it may begin as early as 6:30am and extend to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities include blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifugation, and maintaining patient data, with a focus on accuracy and regulatory compliance. Prior phlebotomy experience and a state certification are required.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification valid in the employing state.
• Minimum 6 months venipuncture experience in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles; follow physician orders; match requisition forms to tubes.
