Job summary

The Community Group is hiring a teacher to deliver a developmentally appropriate early education curriculum and provide a nurturing classroom environment in Greater Lawrence. You will plan activities, guide assistants, and collaborate with families to support each child's growth.

Ideally you hold MA EEC certification or eligibility, an ECE degree, and First Aid/CPR; bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus. The position includes a 9-hour shift and bonus programs.

Qualifications

  • Requires MA EEC Teacher Certification or eligibility.
  • Associate/Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Lead and train assistants, volunteers, and interns to support learning.
  • Collaborate with team to create engaging daily activities and routines.
  • Assess and track child development; maintain records and progress reports.
  • Communicate progress to parents and guardians; participate in conferences.

They create a positive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages active learning, exploration, and creativity..Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):Be the guardian of our little ones’ well-being, ensuring their health and safety while they explore the wonders of our classroom environment.Foster a love for learning through creative and interactive teaching methods.Lead with compassion, guiding and training assistants, volunteers, and interns to create a nurturing classroom learning environment.Work in collaboration with others to craft age-appropriate daily activities, establish engaging routines, and design a captivating classroom space and a cohesive and supportive learning environment.Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.Create a safe, inclusive, and organized classroom environment.Manage classroom materials and resources effectively.Embrace the joy of learning and play, conducting daily activities, hand-pick stimulating materials, and encourage meaningful interactions between our curious learners.Cater to every child's emotional, intellectual, and nutritional needs.Promote positive behavior and social skills among children.Handle disciplinary issues with patience, consistency, and age-appropriate strategies.Regularly assess and track each child's development and progress.Maintain records of individual student achievements and areas for improvement.Communicate progress to parents and guardians, verbally and through reports and conferences.Provide or support with referring children for additional services as needed.Work with special education professionals if needed to support children with special needs.Build trustful connections with each child, using a keen eye to recognize any signs of emotional, developmental, or physical concerns, which you'll report to the team and support with targeted interventions;Nurture strong partnerships with parents, offering insights on child development matters, and holding yearly conferences to discuss the progress, development, and finances of each individual child and their family;Keep the lines of communication open with parents, sharing daily updates on children's activities, and enforcing Center policies with care and understanding when needed;Observe children's progress regularly, share observations with the Curriculum team. Craft comprehensive progress reports every six months (three months for our infant classrooms).Foster a positive learning and work environment, working both independently and collaboratively to ensure a fulfilling experience for everyone involved;Attend staff meetings, parent functions and advisory meetings, and compensated in-service trainings;All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.*May be eligibleUphold a passionate belief in The Community Group's mission, values, and educational modelMassachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Teacher CertificationMust be at least 21 years of ageAssociate or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, preferredCurrent First Aid and CPR certification preferredBilingual (English/Spanish) a plus; ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.Strong interpersonal skillsCompleted CORI, SORI and fingerprint scan in accordance with regulations set forth by the Department of Early Education and Care.Ability to demonstrate skills in collaborative planning and problem-solvingAbility to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to demonstrate flexibility, patience, and a sense of humorAbility to demonstrate knowledge of and experience with the implementation of developmentally appropriate strategiesA teacher's role is essential in laying the foundation for a child's lifelong learning journey.
