Summary

This Field Service Engineer will work and reside primarily in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area during training (estimated 12-18 months), with up to 70% travel throughout the region, providing service and support to Grifols customers onsite and by telephone. Upon completion of training, work will continue in this area; however, this engineer MUST BE willing to relocate within the continental United States if needed. A high sense of customer service and experience servicing electronic/electro-mechanical equipment are required. This role involves working independently and reporting directly to the Regional Technical Support Manager. Training will be at our facility in Research Triangle Park, NC. The engineer will work on Immunohematology (IH) equipment and later on Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) platforms.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Compliance: Adhere to procedures and protocols outlined by Grifols GST organization and Grifols Diagnostic Solutions.
  2. Customer Service: Respond to inquiries, participate in evaluations, hardware/software upgrades, installations, preventive maintenance, and ongoing support at customer sites and via phone. Document activities in CRM.
  3. Escalation of Customer Needs: Communicate with other teams to ensure rapid resolution of issues.
  4. Projects: Collaborate with Global Service and Training (GS&T) and Account Managers on product performance, development, and process improvements.
  5. Personal Development: Continue to develop skills such as presentation and communication skills.
Key Performance Indicators
  • Timely completion of training and certifications (98%)
  • On-time completion of Preventive Maintenance (100%)
  • Timely documentation and resolution of service requests
  • Metrics such as Service Cost, MTBF, MTTR, customer satisfaction, etc.
Additional Responsibilities

Other duties as assigned, including document translation, root cause analysis, and process improvements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong organizational, record keeping, and inventory skills.
  • Knowledge of GMP, ISO, and related regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and call handling systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Customer focus, intellectual agility, and composure under pressure.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s in Engineering, Technical, or Scientific Discipline, or equivalent military education, or High School Diploma/GED with relevant experience.

  • 0-2 years with a Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-4 years with an Associate degree
  • 4+ years with a High School diploma, preferably in a regulated environment
Occupational Demands
  • Up to 70% travel, including outside the assigned geographic area.
  • Flexible work hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to relocate within the US if needed.
