Job summary

CJ Bio America is seeking a Floater to support Utility operations across shifts in a manufacturing setting. The role involves operating and maintaining critical utility equipment, performing audits, and ensuring energy efficiency.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with flexibility for 8–12 hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. SAP and HMI experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• Utility system operation experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor utility equipment (compressor, chiller, cooling tower, water treatment, steam accumulator, gas regulator).
• Perform audits and analysis of equipment and energy usage.
• Develop or revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Collect water samples and test pH, hardness, conductivity.
• Schedule preventative maintenance and coordinate shutdown activities.
• Review contracts with vendors and utilities.

Job Summary

This position works open shifts for Utility operators. Work schedule may vary, which includes but isn’t limited to 8 to 12 hours shifts, nights, days, weekends and holidays. Efficiently operates Utility equipment, i.e., compressor, chiller, cooling tower, water treatment, steam accumulator and gas regulator. Completes audits and analysis of equipment.

Essential Job Functions

• Works open shifts for Utility operators
• Monitor and control utility equipment using HMI control software
• Identify, analyze and report equipment malfunctions
• Create or revise Standard Operation Procedures (SOP)
• Collect water samples and test pH, hardness and conductivity
• Perform maintenance to major equipment: Comp, Chiller, CT, Water treatment, Steam Actuator, and Gas regulator
• Monitor and maintain equipment with support of trained equipment technician from manufacture
• Small spare parts inspection .i.e., filters, oil coolant
• Chemical maintenance (HCL, NAOH, Cooling Tower Chemical)
• Mechanical spare parts (Mechanical, Piping, Electrical Component)
• Maintain good housekeeping
• Perform equipment audits and schedule Preventative Maintenance
• Assists with scheduling shut down maintenance for annual shut down period
• Perform plant audit for energy efficiency and system improvements
• Collect the daily energy usage from all departments and predict how much energy will be needed based on changes in energy use
• Record Keeping and Analysis of data related to utility equipment and utility functions (temperature, pressure, flow, etc…)
• Review, confirm, and schedule contracts with vendors, utilities and equipment
• Conduct analysis of consumed utility amount per product produced
• Participate in monthly and yearly closing
• Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge and experience operating utility equipment in a manufacturing environment, i.e., compressor, chiller, cooling tower, water treatment, steam accumulator and gas regulator
• Willingness to consistently train to broaden knowledge of plant process and equipment

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• This position’s work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm but may vary, it includes but isn’t limited to 8 or 12-hour shifts, alternating day and night shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime. This position is required to work open shifts for Operator absences.
• This position works in a manufacturing environment, which includes exposures to moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, vibrations, varying atmospheric conditions and temperatures, hazardous chemicals, high pressure steam and dust
• This position does not supervise the work of others
• Travel is not expected for this position
• This position regularly requires the ability to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of shift. Standing, walking extended distances, ascending/descending stairs extended distances, close/distance vision. Occasionally requires confined space entry, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, ascending/descending ladders, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Must be able to wear full-face respirator and protective equipment for testing. This includes minimal facial hair to ensure proper fit of respirator in accordance with OSHA regulations. Must complete annual medical monitoring program, including pulmonary function testing.
