Summary
This position will fulfill the duties of a Universal Banker, traveling as needed between multiple offices, which may include multiple locations within a single workday.
Responsible for providing superior customer service by processing transactions, recognizing client needs, and recommending appropriate products and services. Open, maintain, and close various transactions and deposit accounts efficiently. Direct daily work of tellers, ensure orderly operations, generate referrals, and coach tellers on sales and referral techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Have strong knowledge of all bank products and services, including features and benefits, and present options tailored to client needs.
- Participate in referral and sales programs, campaigns, and training to meet sales goals regularly.
- Coordinate with the Branch Manager regarding sales and service operations.
- Coach tellers to meet sales referral goals and deliver excellent customer service.
- Prepare documents for opening and maintaining accounts based on client needs.
- Assist with loan questions and processes, preparing clients for the application process and exploring further opportunities.
- Manage IRA contracts, renewals, and transactions, and handle Certificates of Deposit.
- Assist with Safe Deposit Box rentals, ensuring proper security of records and negotiable instruments.
- Balance vault cash, ATM, and branch totals, conduct monthly audits, and manage vault transactions under dual control policies.
- Show empathy and resolve customer requests, complaints, and follow-ups satisfactorily.
- Ensure daily teller balances, assist in resolving discrepancies, and report issues immediately.
- Maintain awareness of lobby activity to optimize customer service efficiency.
- Stay informed about competing banks' products and promotions to make effective recommendations.
- Follow dual control policies and security procedures for branch operations.
- Authority to open/close branch and sign checks/overrides within limits.
- Make outbound sales calls to clients and run teller window as needed.
- Adapt work schedules to branch staffing requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED; college degree preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail banking experience as a teller or in customer contact/sales roles.
- Preferably 1 year of experience opening accounts, sales, and operations.
- Previous supervisory and sales experience highly preferred.
