Banking Specialist II
This position, Banking Specialist II, may be called by many other names: New Accounts Representative, Senior Teller, etc. At First Bank, we choose to call you a "specialist" because that is what you are! You have mastered the art of handling transactions at the teller window and are working to gain more training and skills to help clients with new accounts as well as other non-monetary transactions.
What You Will Be Doing
- Providing excellent client service by accurately and expeditiously opening new accounts and other products for current and new clients. Providing maintenance on accounts and products when requested and authorized by the client. Quoting rates, terms, and fees on all products and services, and providing necessary disclosures as required (NMLS registration will be required).
- Expanding the use of alternative delivery systems by explaining the merits of systems such as Online Banking, Online Bill Pay, ATM network, Debit Card, and Client Contact Center.
- Identifying borrowing needs and assisting in processing and closing consumer loan applications.
- Increasing sales and cross-sell opportunities by participating in sales events, internal/external activities, outbound calls, and promotional efforts.
- Supporting the Bank's culture by greeting clients courteously and friendly, including by name when possible.
- Maintaining client relationships by processing transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, payments, and check cashing accurately and efficiently.
- Ensuring branch compliance through tasks like cash audits, alarm tests, loss prevention training, ATM balancing, audits, regulation training, security reports, and balancing of travelers checks and official checks.
- Protecting the Bank and clients by following all security, regulatory, and audit procedures, including balancing cash drawers, ATMs, and vaults daily, maintaining dual control, and reporting out-of-balance conditions immediately.
- Coaching colleagues on products, services, policies, and procedures.
- Contributing to sales goals by identifying opportunities and referring clients appropriately, working towards branch and individual sales and referral targets.
- Retaining and acquiring clients through calls on maturing accounts, follow-ups, and prospecting.
- Driving branch profitability and satisfaction by understanding clients' needs and promoting suitable Bank products, including cultivating relationships with retail store associates.
- Participating in community service activities to support the Bank's Community Reinvestment Act goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- At least 12 months of previous client service experience (preferred)
- Previous cash-handling experience (required)
- Banking experience (strongly preferred)
- NLMS registration (preferred)
- Developed customer service skills, including written and verbal communication
- Proficiency with PC and alpha/numeric keyboard
- Flexible schedule, including Saturdays
