Banking Specialist II

This position, Banking Specialist II, may also be called by titles such as New Accounts Representative, Senior Teller, etc. At First Bank, we recognize your expertise in handling teller transactions and your efforts to gain additional skills to assist clients with new accounts and other non-monetary transactions.

What You Will Be Doing
  1. Providing excellent client service: Opening new accounts and other products for current and new clients, maintaining accounts, quoting rates, terms, and fees, and providing disclosures as required (NMLS registration may be required).
  2. Promoting alternative delivery systems: Explaining benefits of Online Banking, Bill Pay, ATM network, Debit Card, and Client Contact Center.
  3. Assisting with lending needs: Identifying borrowing needs, originating consumer loan applications, and assisting in processing and closing loans.
  4. Enhancing sales and cross-selling: Participating in sales events, outbound calls, and promotional activities to increase sales opportunities.
  5. Supporting our culture: Greeting clients courteously, including by name when possible, and fostering a client-friendly environment.
  6. Maintaining client relationships: Processing transactions accurately and efficiently, such as deposits, withdrawals, and check cashing.
  7. Ensuring branch compliance: Performing tasks like cash audits, alarm tests, loss prevention training, ATM balancing, and audits.
  8. Protecting bank and client interests: Following security, regulatory, and audit procedures, balancing cash drawers, and reporting discrepancies.
  9. Coaching colleagues: Assisting Banking Specialist I with products, services, policies, and procedures.
  10. Driving sales and referrals: Identifying opportunities, referring clients, and working towards sales goals.
  11. Client retention and prospecting: Conducting calls on maturing accounts and following up on leads and referrals.
  12. Building client relationships: Encouraging consideration of other bank products and cultivating relationships with retail store associates.
  13. Community involvement: Participating in community service activities to support the bank's Community Reinvestment Act goals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 12 months previous client service experience preferred
  • Previous cash-handling experience required
  • Previous banking experience strongly preferred
  • NLMS registration preferred
  • Strong customer service skills, including written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency with PC and alpha/numeric keyboard
  • Flexible work schedule, including potential Saturdays
