Job summary

Birch Tree Academy in Redmond, WA is hiring an assistant teacher who brings enthusiasm, patience and a caring heart. You will collaborate with the lead teacher and help guide a class of 12 students, planning daily activities and supporting curriculum delivery.

This full-time role offers a daytime schedule, competitive pay between $21.50 and $23.50 per hour, and benefits including 401(k), health insurance, PTO and parental leave.

Qualifications

• Childcare experience: 1 year (Preferred).
• Relevant: 3 years (Preferred).
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must meet state or accreditation requirements for education and experience.
• CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
• Impeccable references and a proven track record of caring for children.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Help teach a class of 12 students.
• Work a full-time schedule (40 hours a week).
• Help plan and teach daily activities and lessons that correspond with the curriculum.
• Help promote multi-cultural education.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment.
• Help students learn classroom rules and procedures, as well as personal responsibility and respect for fellow students.
• Use appropriate behavior management and classroom discipline.
• Attend to children's basic needs which might including: feeding them, dressing them, etc
• Supervise class projects, field trips and visits by guest teachers
• Establish consistent communication with parents and children
• Write weekly class and individual student updates to parents
