Job summary

Monroe Hospital, part of Prime Healthcare, is a 32-bed community hospital in Bloomington, IN. We are seeking a Float Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver safe patient care across units using the nursing process, while guiding patient/family teaching and maintaining professional standards.

The role requires current RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and flexibility to float to critical care areas within scope. Night shift, full-time employment, and commitment to high-quality care are expected.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain.
• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain.
• Current PALS certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• Able to float into critical care areas within scope and competency.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of safe patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Float RN may be assigned to two or more units based on need and will maintain competency in all units.
• Direct patient care within the scope of practice and guide patient/family teaching.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in patient condition, including diagnostic results and symptoms.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Float RN can be assigned to two (2) or more units based on need and will maintain competency to practice in all units. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The RN also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care. The RN is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to assigned patients on an assigned unit. She/he/them communicates with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
