Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital, part of Universal Health Services, Inc., is seeking a Float Pool RN to deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care across two units based on experience and hospital needs.

You will assess patient conditions, respond to emergencies, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and ensure exceptional patient care in both assigned specialties, including safe medication administration and thorough documentation, while educating patients and families.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
• ACLS or PALS (or obtained within six months of employment).
• BLS certification.
• Current state nursing license.
• Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care.
• Requirements specified for specialty unit.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care & Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments, monitor patient progress, and adjust care plans.
• Critical Thinking & Emergency Response: Identify changes in patient conditions quickly, intervene appropriately.
• Collaboration & Teamwork: Work with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other professionals on care plans.
• Medication Administration & Monitoring: Safely administer meds, titrate drips, assess responses.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate electronic records and ensure policy compliance.
• Patient & Family Education: Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge steps.
• Float Adaptability: Maintain competency in two acute areas and float as needed.
