Job description

Our Client, a Clinical Laboratory company, is looking for a Float Phlebotomist I for their Liverpool, NY location.

Responsibilities:

1. The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
2. Experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.
3. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
4. Explain the venipuncture (blood drawing) process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine, fecal) clearly and courteously.
5. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
6. Understand all physicians' orders fully.
7. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
8. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
9. Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
10. Package specimens for transport.
11. Store specimen samples according to required temperature conditions.

Requirements:

1. At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
2. Experience performing phlebotomy on all types of patients.
3. Experience with hard sticks, needles, urine, and thyroid testing.
4. Hospital experience is a plus.
5. Detail-oriented with good experience.
6. Computer skills, including data entry and processing.
7. Bilingual in Spanish.
8. Available as a floating/mobile phlebotomist.
9. High School Diploma or GED.
