Job Location: First Farmers and Merchants Bank, 1501 South James Campbell Blvd., Columbia, TN 38401 - This is a float position requiring travel to all branches within Maury County.

Education Level: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

To assist customers and potential customers with their banking needs; to support Relationship Managers in processing loans; to look for cross-sell opportunities and make appropriate referrals.

Personal Banker I Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers with opening and closing accounts, answer questions about products and services, and resolve problems within their authority; explain services, set up new accounts, certificates of deposit, IRAs; help with electronic funds transfers; provide expertise on Internet banking products; respond to problems and direct customers to the appropriate team; refer issues beyond their authority to their supervisor, along with recommendations. Perform teller duties as needed. Assist in taking consumer loan applications, entering data, and helping with closings.
  • Have basic knowledge of the bank's consumer loan products, documents, regulations, and policies; trained to help Relationship Managers process loans; assist in setting up loan closings.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities and promote services to customers.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties including typing, filing, computer input, and answering phones.
  • Work in the Contact Center as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience: 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Education: Two-year college degree, certification, specialized training, or apprenticeship.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to handle confidential discussions, build relationships, and resolve conflicts tactfully.
  • Other Skills: Leadership, supervisory skills, good communication, and proficiency with 10-key calculator, typing, and keyboard skills.

The position requires frequent movement within the office, operating office machinery, and may involve travel to branches. Standard office equipment such as calculators, computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines are routinely used.
