Job summary

UPMC Mercy and UPMC Magee seek a licensed occupational therapist for a float position across acute care, rehab, and related units.

The role requires ACOTE-accredited education, NBCOT certification, and active state licensure. You will assess, treat, document, and coordinate care with the healthcare team, while supervising students and maintaining professional credentials.

Qualifications

• Graduate of ACOTE-accredited occupational therapy program.
• Able to provide quality customer service and communicate with the care team.
• Experience in acute care, rehab and/or TCU preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain documentation for all occupational therapy services, including assessments, follow-ups, and discharge summaries.
• Co-sign OT assistant documentation biweekly.
• Communicate patient status to referring physicians and healthcare team members.
• Complete charge and statistical information to reflect services rendered.
• Schedule patients to meet productivity standards while ensuring quality care.
• Provide verbal/written home instructions to patients and/or family members.
• Supervise clinical education programs for students from various universities.
• Maintain professional license through continuing education and professional development.
• Perform and supervise occupational therapy assessments, treatments, and plan adjustments.
• Participate in staff meetings and in-service education programs

Job description

Provides occupational therapy assessment and treatment using advanced clinical skills in a specialty area of occupational therapy for patients referred to non-contracted and contracted facilities of the Rehabilitation Institute. Serves as a clinical resource for other staff members. May have an individual agreement with an academic institution for instructional services. Participates in research conducted within the Rehabilitation Institute.

This is a float position that will work in both UPMC Mercy and UPMC Magee.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program approved by The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)
• Must possess knowledge and skills required to provide quality customer service.
• Acute care, rehab and/or TCU experience, preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

• Active license in practicing state required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
