Job summary

Heritage Medical Associates in Nashville, TN is seeking a Medical Assistant for a full-time, day-shift role. You will collect clinical data, document in the chart, and notify physicians of patient status while supporting exams and treatments.

You will perform CLIA waived tests, administer medications per protocol, and manage patient scheduling and referrals. CPR certification and a TN driver's license may be required for float positions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Degree, Diploma or Certificate of Completion from an accredited Medical Assistant training program (or accredited nursing program) or have a minimum of 1-year prior experience in a clinic/hospital setting.
• Current CPR certification.
• If float, valid TN Driver’s License and proof of valid automobile insurance.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) such as Allscripts is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gathers clinical data and documents in the chart (initials/dates) for accurate tracking of care.
• Notifies physician of patient status and prepares charts for physicians.
• Triages patients via face-to-face, phone, and patient portal messages.
• Prepares and administers medications and vaccines per protocol; documents dosages and reactions.
• Performs CLIA waived tests (glucose, UA, pregnancy, strep) as ordered and records results.
• Operates and troubleshoots equipment used in patient care.
• Schedules patient appointments; manages referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Answers phones and handles administrative duties; maintains clean, organized work areas.
