Summary:
Applicant must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have successfully completed a Medical Assistant certificate program. National Medical Assistant certification is also preferred. A minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant is required; two years of experience is preferred. Applicant must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Certification must be obtained before orientation. The Float Medical Assistant is a full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position requires flexibility to work variable schedules based on patient and program needs, including one late night per week until 7:00 p.m. and occasional last-minute schedule changes. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to various RSBCIHI locations are required. Applicant must be able to provide competent, age-specific care to patients in an ambulatory primary care setting. This includes supporting various specialties, such as family practice, women’s health, pediatrics, podiatry, and pain management; performing treatments and procedures; and conducting CLIA-waived testing procedures. Must be able to work with the Indian Community and be sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs.
Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
Medical Assistant Certificate (documentation of diploma or certificate required).
Required: 1 year as a Medical Assistant in related position.
Preferred: 2 years as a Medical Assistant in related position.
Preferred: National Medical Assistant Certification.
Valid CPR (BLS Provider) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross. Certification may be obtained prior to orientation.
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office), Utilization of electronic health record systems.
Ability to effectively communicate with multiple disciplines within the medical team including providers, pharmacy, nursing staff, and pharmacy staff.
Work a variable schedule to meet client and program needs.
Must be able to work with the Indian Community, and be sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs.
Receiving phone calls and working on computer equipment. There is frequent exposure to infectious diseases. Frequent walking, bending, and reaching. Standing and/or sitting for long periods of time. Lifting up to 50lbs required. The incumbent will be required to assist patients who are frail or handicapped. Driving will be required between clinics. This position is considered a uniformed service and a dress code is published.
