Valmont is hiring a Night Shift Machine Operator Welders in Brenham, TX. The role offers a hands-on production career with strong starting pay, growth opportunities, and long-term stability.

You will work 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Monday–Friday, with potential overtime based on business needs. Starting rate is $24.47/hour with built-in pay progression at 90 days, 1 year, and 2 years, plus a $1.00/hour shift differential for off‑shift work and occasional discretionary bonuses.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Must be able to pass 1G and 2G flat weld certification tests.
• 3–6 months of welding experience in a professional setting.
• Proficient at math including fractions and decimals.
• Able to read a measuring tape accurately.
• Strong safety awareness at all times.
• Able to communicate well with coworkers.
• Able to work in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Comply 100% with PPE requirements and safety policies.
• Operate hydraulic driven equipment and machinery as assigned.
• Perform basic shop math and measure parts to spec.
• Position and weld components using overhead crane and related equipment.
• Maintain welding certifications (1G/2G) and read gauges.
• Follow directions from Supervisor and Lead Person.

Flip Tack Machine Operator / Welder (Large Pole)

Night Shift | 3rd Shift

Standard Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM*
*Additional hours outside the standard shift schedule may be required based on business needs.

Compensation

• Starting Rate: $24.47/hour

Essential Functions

• Comply 100% with PPE requirements and actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
• Basic knowledge of operating hydraulic driven equipment
• Use common shop manufacturing math to include adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing fractions and conversion of decimals
• Determine the center of an object using basic measuring skills and shop mathematics
• Perform operator preventative maintenance on overhead crane, forklift, and welding/ cutting equipment
• Safely use overhead crane to properly position product for welding, grinding, and assembly
• Comply with directives from Production Supervisor and Lead Person
• Perform routing machine operations such as feeding or unloading a machine
• Maintain certifications for 1G, and 2G v-groove welding using GMAW
• Designate and control material flow throughout the shop
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

• Must be able to read and write English
• Must be able to pass the Valmont endorsed 1G and 2G flat weld certification test
• Three to six months of previous hands‑on welding experience in a professional work environment
• Must be proficient at math to include adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing fractions and conversion of decimals
• Must be able to accurately read a measuring tape
• Ability to maintain high awareness for safety at all times
• Must be able to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
• Have the ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
• Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
• Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Hold a current Valmont endorsed 1G, 2G flat weld certification
• One year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
• One year of previous hands‑on welding experience in a professional environment
• American Welding Society (AWS) welding certification from a recognized school

Working Environment and Physical Efforts

• Ambient temperatures in work areas coincide with seasonal weather changes.
• Exposure to metal and smoke fumes due to surrounding processes.
• Abnormal noise level throughout the shop requiring hearing protection to be worn at all times.
• Direct exposure to dirt, grease, mill scale, cutting fluid, rust inhibitors, and metal particles and splinters.
• Incumbent will also be exposed to production facilities where specific PPE will be required such as hand, hearing, foot, eye, and head protection.
• There will also be frequent exposure to outside elements for short periods of time.
• Being outside will also expose them to material handling equipment such as forklifts, straddle trucks, and shag trucks.
