Job summary

Universal Logistics Holdings, Inc. is seeking a CDL Class A Yard Switcher in Detroit for night shift operations. You will move trailers in and out of docks, assist OTR drivers, and ensure safety standards are met across the yard and adjacent facilities.

Responsibilities include checking paperwork, seals, and trailer numbers, while maintaining compliance with DOT and company safety policies. This position offers union benefits and a robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years old with valid CDL A.
• 6 months tractor-trailer experience.
• No more than 2 moving violations in 3 years.
• No more than 2 preventable accidents in 3 years.
• No DUI/OWI in the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Moving trailers in and out of docks and between yards.
• Complying with all GM safety regulations.
• Opening and closing doors during backing in/out of docks.
• Assisting OTR drivers as needed.
• Checking trailer numbers and seals against paperwork.
• Inspecting trailers for DOT cert and general safety.

Company Drivers: $24.00/Hour 3rd Shift 10pm-6:30am Monday - Friday

• Position is very active as the switchers are getting in and out of the trucks all day long to open and close doors when backing in and out of dock doors.


• Assisting OTR drivers

• Inspecting trailers prior to moving them for DOT cert and general safety concerns


• Report upward to Leads and security

What We Require

• At least 21 years old with valid CDL A


• 6 MONTHS TRACTOR TRAILER EXPERIENCE


• No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years


• No more than 2 preventable accident in the last 3 years


• No DUI/OWI in the last 5 years
