Job summary

Universal Logistics is seeking a CDL Class A Yard Switcher to support dock operations in Detroit, MI. The role involves moving trailers, backing into doors, and maintaining safety across yard operations.

Shifts run 10pm-6:30am, Monday–Friday, with pay at $24.00 per hour. Benefits include Blue Cross/Blue Shield Medical, Dental and Vision, paid holidays, vacation and a 401K plan.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years old with valid CDL A.
• 6 months tractor-trailer experience.
• No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years.
• No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years.
• No DUI/OWI in the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers in and out of docks.
• Move trailers to and from separate yards.
• Comply with GM safety regulations and DOT rules.
• Stay active throughout shifts, backing in and out of dock doors.
• Assist OTR drivers as needed.
• Check trailer numbers and seals against paperwork.
• Inspect trailers before moving for DOT safety concerns.
• Report to Leads and security.

Company Drivers: $24.00/Hour 3rd Shift 10pm-6:30am Monday - Friday

• Position is very active as the switchers are getting in and out of the trucks all day long to open and close doors when backing in and out of dock doors.

• Report upward to Leads and security

What We Require

• At least 21 years old with valid CDL A


• 6 MONTHS TRACTOR TRAILER EXPERIENCE


• No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years


• No more than 2 preventable accident in the last 3 years


• No DUI/OWI in the last 5 years
