Job summary

Stratolaunch in Mojave, CA seeks an Aircraft Maintenance Controller to coordinate maintenance for flight test programs and ensure airworthiness. The role supports dynamic schedules, rapid configuration changes, and close collaboration with flight test crews, program managers, and engineering teams.

You will manage real-time maintenance, plan ground and flight test events, and maintain compliant records while optimizing availability across test aircraft and facilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of aircraft maintenance experience, preferably with flight test or experimental programs.
• Knowledge of aircraft maintenance scheduling practices and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and test requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting and decision-making under dynamic conditions.
• Proficiency with maintenance tracking systems and MS Project.
• Experience in staffing assignments and resolving competing priorities.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills for standardized daily production.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and track status of aircraft in Maintenance/Operations.
• Provide real-time aircraft status updates to programs and management.
• Coordinate rapid maintenance actions to support high-tempo test schedules.
• Ensure all maintenance is documented per engineering test requirements and regulations.
• Plan ground, taxi, and flight test events ensuring aircraft readiness.
• Coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance around evolving test schedules.
• Develop and manage maintenance forecasts aligned with milestones.
• Balance resources across multiple aircraft and facilities.
• Coordinate parts orders, tooling, and outside vendors.
• Serve as central communication link between engineers, pilots, and crews.
• Provide leadership updates on readiness, discrepancies, and recovery actions.
• Coordinate with engineering for resolution of discrepancies or test-specific needs.
